✨ Before and After — Becoming Whole Again

Reflections in Light · A Serenity Script Journal

There are moments in life that divide everything — the before and the after.
The day my husband died, the world I knew quietly shifted.
In that instant, a line was drawn between the life I had built and the unknown that stretched before me.
For a long time, I stood in that space between — grieving not only the man I loved, but the future I thought we would share.

I can still see that before life sometimes — as if watching an old film I once starred in.
The woman there was happy, full of plans, unaware of how fragile ordinary days can be.
I honour her, but I hardly recognise her now.
Loss reshaped me. It stripped away what I thought I knew about love and joy — and, somehow, deepened both.

In time, grace found me again.
Life unfolded in unexpected ways — love returned, not as a replacement, but as a renewal.
I married again, and became a mother.
This chapter is softer, fuller, richer — a different kind of happiness, not born from innocence, but from understanding.
The ache of the past still lives within me, but it no longer defines me.
It has become part of the soil from which this new life has grown.

Now, I see that grief did not end my story — it rewrote it.
The woman I am today was shaped by love that lived, love that was lost, and love that bloomed again.
I am happy again — not as I was before, but in a way that feels complete.
This is the after: not a shadow of what was, but the light that remains.
